• Across the Disciplines (ATD) a refereed journal devoted to language, learning, and academic writing, ATD publishes articles relevant to writing and writing pedagogy. Across the Disciplines shares the mission of the Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) Clearinghouse in making information about writing and writing instruction freely available to members of the CAC, WAC, and ECAC communities.

  • Conference on College Communication and Compostion (CCCC) - founded in 1949, the Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC) is the world's largest professional organization for researching and teaching composition, from writing to new media.
  • Council on Basic Writing Blog - the CWB is a special interest group of the Conference on College Communication and Composition (CCCC). It is an organization that advocates for students in Basic Writing and supports the professional endeavors of teachers, scholars, administrators, and students involved with Basic Writing.
  • Council of Writing Program Administrators (WPA) - a national association of college and university faculty with professional responsibilities for (or interests in) directing writing programs. Members include directors of freshman composition, undergraduate writing, WAC/WID/CAC, and writing centers, as well as department chairs, division heads, deans, and so on.
  • English as a Second Language (ESL) Resources from the Purdue OWL - includes resources for both instructors and students.
  • EServer.org - Accessible Writing: EServer.org is a digital humanities venture, founded in 1990 and based at Iowa State University, where writers, editors and scholars publish over 35,000 works free of charge.
  • HyperTextBooks - created by Daniel Kies of the College of DuPage : "one of the best composition courses on the Web." Free English grammar, linguistics, composition, rhetoric, and other academic resources created by Daniel Kies; ESL resources created by Sandra Gollin Kies. Instructors wanting to use the materials must agree to the Terms of Use.
  • The Internet TESL Journal -  for teachers of English as a Second Language. The Internet TESL Journal published articles from 1995 through 2010; the website is now an online resource book for teachers who can refer to our published articles on teaching techniques and other things of interest to EFL and ESL teachers.
  • Kairos: A Journal of Rhetoric, Technology and Pedagogy -  a refereed open-access online journal exploring the intersections of rhetoric, technology, and pedagogy published bi-annually, in August and January, with regular special issues in May.
  • MERLOT English Community Portal -  an educational resource for teachers and learners of English at any level. Join MERLOT (Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching) and contribute to this growing community of English instructors.
  • National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) -  the National Council of Teachers of English is devoted to improving the teaching and learning of English and the language arts at all levels of education. Their mission statement was adopted in 1990: "The Council promotes the development of literacy, the use of language to construct personal and public worlds and to achieve full participation in society, through the learning and teaching of English and the related arts and sciences of language.“
  • National Writing Project (NWP) - focuses the knowledge, expertise, and leadership of educators on sustained efforts to improve writing and learning for all learners. The NWP is a network of university-based sites; it is co-directed by faculty from the local university and from K–12 schools, and made up of nearly 200 local sites that serve all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Sites work in partnership with area school districts to offer high-quality professional development programs for educators.
  • Poets & Writers - the primary source of information, support, and guidance for creative writers. Founded in 1970, P&W is the nation's largest nonprofit literary organization serving poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers.

  • Two Year College English Association (TYCEA) -  part of the NCTE, the TYCEA unites teachers committed to the teaching and study of English in the two-year college, advances the profession, and provided a national voice for the two-year college in postsecondary education.
